A vulnerability has been found in Watchguard XTMv 2017.03.10 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component User Management. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. As an impact it is known to affect integrity.

The weakness was presented 03/10/2017 by Matt Bergin as KL-001-2017-004 : WatchGuard XTMv User Management Cross-Site Request Forgery as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

A private exploit has been developed by Matt Bergin and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 40 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
