The bug was discovered 03/14/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/14/2017 by Jordan Rabet with Offensive Security as MS17-008 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-0099 since 09/09/2016. Access to the local network is required for this attack. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 97745 (MS17-008: Security Update for Windows Hyper-V (4013082)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 91337 (Microsoft Windows Security Update for Hyper-V (MS17-008)).
Applying the patch MS17-008 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
