The MemcmpLowercase function in Suricata before 2.0.6 improperly excludes the first byte from comparisons, which might allow remote attackers to bypass intrusion-prevention functionality via a crafted HTTP request.
The bug was discovered 01/15/2015. The weakness was released 03/20/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.debian.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-8954 since 08/28/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
