Mozilla Firefox before 1.0 truncates long filenames in the file download dialog box, which makes it easier for remote attackers to trick users into downloading files with dangerous extensions.
The weakness was presented 11/10/2004 by Wolfgang Schwarz as Bug 69070 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-2227 since 07/17/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
