A vulnerability was found in Netflix Security Monkey up to 0.7.x and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Logout. The manipulation of the argument next as part of a Host Header leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Netflix Security Monkey before 0.8.0 has an Open Redirect. The logout functionality accepted the "next" parameter which then redirects to any domain irrespective of the Host header.
The bug was discovered 03/26/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/26/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-7266 since 03/26/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
