Details
A vulnerability was found in Apple Safari up to 10.0 (Web Browser). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function disconnectSubframes of the component WebKit. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability (Universal). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. As an impact it is known to affect integrity.
The bug was discovered 03/28/2017. The weakness was presented 03/27/2017 by Natalie Silvanovich (lokihardt) with Google Project Zero as HT207600 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-2445 since 12/01/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. A logic issue existed in the handling of frame objects. This issue was addressed with improved state management.
