A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg up to 2.0 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function read_dect_coeffs of the file libavcodec/bink.c of the component Quantization Matrix Handler. The impact remains unknown.
The weakness was disclosed 08/05/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind as bink: Bound check the quantization matrix as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.libav.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.libav.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
