A vulnerability was found in Apple iTunes up to 12.5 on Windows (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component WebKit. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. The bug was discovered 03/28/2017. The weakness was presented 03/21/2017 by Kai Kang (lokihardt) with Tencent Xuanwu Lab as HT207599 as confirmed advisory (Website) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-2463 since 12/01/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The advisory points out:

Upgrading to version 12.6 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
