Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 4.10.7 (Operating System). This issue affects the function vmw_gb_surface_define_ioctl of the file drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_surface.c. The manipulation as part of a IOCTL Call leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
The vmw_gb_surface_define_ioctl function in drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_surface.c in the Linux kernel through 4.10.7 does not validate certain levels data, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (system hang) via a crafted ioctl call for a /dev/dri/renderD* device.
