A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in cPanel WHM 11.34.1.24/11.36.1.14/11.38.1.12/11.39.0.4 (Hosting Control Software). This affects some unknown functionality of the component SSL Certificate Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. The weakness was released 07/18/2013 with Rack911 as cPanel -Content Manipulation (R911-0043) as confirmed blog post (Website). The advisory is shared at blog.rack911.com. The public release was coordinated with the project team. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
