A vulnerability was found in RTMPDump 2.4 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function AMF3ReadString of the file amf.c of the component RTMP Media Handler. The AMF3ReadString function in amf.c in RTMPDump 2.4 allows remote RTMP Media servers to cause a denial of service (invalid pointer dereference and process crash).

The bug was discovered 01/07/2016. The weakness was presented 04/13/2017 by Cisco with Cisco Talos (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-8270 since 11/19/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
