CVE-2026-42100 in Pro Cloud Serverinfo

Summary

by MITRE • 05/19/2026

Improper Handling of Syntactically Invalid Structure in Sparx Pro Cloud Server allows Denial of Service (DoS) attack to be executed by sending an specially crafted SQL query. This causes the Pro Cloud Server service to terminate unexpectedly.

The vendor was notified early about this vulnerability, but didn't respond with the details of vulnerability or vulnerable version range. Only version 6.1 (build 167) and below were tested and confirmed as vulnerable, other versions were not tested and might also be vulnerable.

The vulnerability described represents a critical denial of service weakness in Sparx Pro Cloud Server software that stems from inadequate input validation mechanisms when processing database queries. This issue falls under the broader category of improper handling of syntactically invalid structures, which is commonly classified as CWE-248, indicating an exception handling flaw where the application fails to properly manage malformed input data. The vulnerability specifically manifests when the system receives a crafted sql query that contains syntactically invalid structures, causing the application to crash and terminate its service unexpectedly.

The technical implementation of this vulnerability exploits the server's lack of robust error handling for malformed sql inputs during query processing. When the Pro Cloud Server encounters such invalid sql syntax, the application fails to gracefully handle the exception and instead terminates its execution process, resulting in complete service disruption. This type of vulnerability aligns with ATT&CK technique T1499.004, which involves network denial of service attacks through service interruption. The flaw demonstrates a fundamental weakness in the application's input sanitization and error recovery mechanisms, where the system does not implement proper try-catch blocks or input validation routines to prevent malformed queries from causing system crashes.

From an operational impact perspective, this vulnerability presents a significant risk to organizations relying on Sparx Pro Cloud Server for their modeling and collaboration needs. The denial of service condition effectively renders the entire system unavailable to legitimate users, potentially causing business disruption and productivity loss. The vulnerability's exploitable nature means that any attacker with access to the system could execute this attack, making it particularly dangerous in environments where unauthorized access might occur. The service termination creates a cascading effect that could impact dependent systems and processes that rely on the Pro Cloud Server functionality.

The remediation approach should focus on implementing comprehensive input validation and error handling mechanisms within the sql query processing pipeline. Organizations should deploy proper sql injection prevention measures including parameterized queries, input sanitization, and robust exception handling routines that can gracefully manage malformed inputs without terminating the service. The vendor's lack of response regarding specific vulnerable versions represents a critical gap in security support, as the absence of clear communication about affected releases prevents organizations from properly assessing their risk exposure. This vulnerability highlights the importance of maintaining up-to-date security patches and the necessity for vendors to provide timely and transparent communication about security issues. Organizations should implement monitoring solutions to detect unusual service termination patterns and establish incident response procedures to quickly address such disruptions. The vulnerability also underscores the need for regular security assessments and penetration testing to identify similar weaknesses in other components of the system architecture.
