A use after free in Chrome Apps in Google Chrome prior to 58.0.3029.81 for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and 58.0.3029.83 for Android, allowed a remote attacker to potentially perform out of bounds memory access via a crafted Chrome extension.
The bug was discovered 04/19/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/19/2017 by Wadih Matar with Zero Day Initiative as Stable Channel Update for Desktop, April 2017 as confirmed news (Website). The advisory is shared at chromereleases.googleblog.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-5062 since 01/02/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
