Heap buffer overflow in filter processing in Skia in Google Chrome prior to 57.0.2987.98 for Mac, Windows, and Linux and 57.0.2987.108 for Android allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory read via a crafted HTML page.

The bug was discovered 03/09/2017. The weakness was presented 04/24/2017 by Holger Fuhrmannek with Tencent (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5044 since 01/02/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 12/02/2022).
