A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Google Chrome up to 57 (Web Browser). This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component Skia. Heap buffer overflow in filter processing in Skia in Google Chrome prior to 57.0.2987.98 for Mac, Windows, and Linux and 57.0.2987.108 for Android allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory read via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 03/09/2017. The weakness was presented 04/24/2017 by Holger Fuhrmannek with Tencent (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5044 since 01/02/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 12/02/2022). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
