XSS Auditor in Google Chrome prior to 57.0.2987.98 for Mac, Windows, and Linux and 57.0.2987.108 for Android allowed detection of a blocked iframe load, which allowed a remote attacker to brute force JavaScript variables via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 03/09/2017. The weakness was shared 04/24/2017 by Holger Fuhrmannek with Tencent (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at chromereleases.googleblog.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-5045 since 01/02/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 6 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
