In Joomla! 1.6.0 through 3.6.5 (fixed in 3.7.0), inadequate filtering of form contents allows overwriting the author of an article.

The bug was discovered 04/29/2016. The weakness was released 04/25/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at developer.joomla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-7988 since 04/20/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
