A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in libarchive 3.2.2 (File Compression Software). This vulnerability affects the function archive_le32dec of the file archive_endian.h. The archive_le32dec function in archive_endian.h in libarchive 3.2.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 12/06/2016. The weakness was released 05/01/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-10349 since 04/30/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
