OpenVPN version 2.3.12 and newer is vulnerable to unauthenticated Denial of Service of server via received large control packet. Note that this issue is fixed in 2.3.15 and 2.4.2.
The bug was discovered 05/12/2017. The weakness was published 05/12/2017 with QUARKSLAB as confirmed changelog (Website). The advisory is shared for download at community.openvpn.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-7478 since 04/05/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
