Details
A vulnerability was found in LibRaw-demosaic-pack-GPL2 up to 0.18.1 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function foveon_load_camf of the file dcraw_foveon.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An integer overflow error within the "foveon_load_camf()" function (dcraw_foveon.c) in LibRaw-demosaic-pack-GPL2 before 0.18.2 can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 03/10/2017. The weakness was published 05/15/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-6889 since 03/14/2017.
