A vulnerability was found in Apple Safari up to 10.1.0 (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown functionality of the component WebKit Web Inspector. A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved memory handling.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 100256 (Apple TV < 10.2.1 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Misc. and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 371242 (Apple Safari 10.1.1 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2017-05-15-7)).
Upgrading to version 10.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
