A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Apple macOS up to 10.12.4 (Operating System). This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component SQLite. The bug was discovered 05/10/2017. The weakness was released 05/15/2017 by Patrick Wardle (OSS-Fuzz) with Google Project Zero as HT207797 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-2520 since 12/01/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The advisory points out:
A buffer overflow issue was addressed through improved memory handling.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
