A vulnerability was found in MediaWiki (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the component ResourceLoader. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. includes/resourceloader/ResourceLoaderContext.php in MediaWiki 1.19.x before 1.19.8, 1.20.x before 1.20.7, and 1.21.x before 1.21.2 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a "<" (open angle bracket) character in the lang parameter to w/load.php, which reveals the installation path in an error message.
The weakness was shared 09/03/2013 as Bug 46332 as not defined bug report (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.wikimedia.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-4301 since 06/12/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Upgrading to version 1.21.2 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at mediawiki.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
