A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 10.3.1 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the component AVEVideoEncoder. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. iOS before 10.3.2 is affected. tvOS before 10.2.1 is affected. watchOS before 3.2.2 is affected. The issue involves the "AVEVideoEncoder" component. It allows attackers to execute arbitrary code in a privileged context or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted app.
The bug was discovered 05/17/2017. The weakness was presented 05/22/2017 with Zimperium zLabs (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-6999 since 03/17/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation.
