A vulnerability was found in Sophos Web Protection Appliance up to 3.7.9. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function close_connections of the file opt/cma/bin/clear_keys.pl of the component Privileges. The close_connections function in /opt/cma/bin/clear_keys.pl in Sophos Web Appliance before 3.7.9.1 and 3.8 before 3.8.1.1 allows local users to gain privileges via shell metacharacters in the second argument.
The weakness was released 09/06/2013 by Francisco Falcon with Core as Privilege escalation through local OS command injection vulnerability as confirmed advisory (Website).
