In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.6 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.12, the RGMP dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-rgmp.c by validating an IPv4 address.
The bug was discovered 06/01/2017. The weakness was published 06/02/2017 by OSS-Fuzz (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-9354. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
