The issue has been introduced in 03/05/2008. The weakness was published 09/10/2013 by Jose Antonio Vazquez Gonzalez with iDEFENSE Labs as MS13-069 as confirmed bulletin (Technet) via Zero Day Initiative (ZDI). It is possible to read the advisory at technet.microsoft.com. The public release has been coordinated with Microsoft. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-3845 since 06/03/2013. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/24/2021). A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 13174.
