A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows up to XP (Operating System) and classified as critical. win32k.sys in the kernel-mode drivers in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, and Windows 8 allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application, aka "Win32k Multiple Fetch Vulnerability."
The weakness was published 09/10/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as MS13-076 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1341 since 01/12/2013. The attack needs to be approached locally. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
