A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Microsoft Edge (Web Browser) (the affected version unknown). Affected is the function CssParser::RecordProperty. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The bug was discovered 06/13/2017. The weakness was presented 06/13/2017 by Ivan Fratric with Google Project Zero as KB4022715 as confirmed security update guide (Website). The advisory is available at portal.msrc.microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-8496 since 05/03/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. A remote code execution vulnerability exists when Microsoft Edge improperly accesses objects in memory. The vulnerability could corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
