A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows up to Server 2016 (Operating System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function USP10!SubstituteNtoM of the component Uniscribe Font Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The advisory is shared for download at portal.msrc.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-0285 since 09/09/2016. The attack needs to be approached locally. An information disclosure vulnerability exists when Windows Uniscribe improperly discloses the contents of its memory. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could obtain information to further compromise the user’s system.
A public exploit has been developed by Google Security Research and been published 2 weeks after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at github.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
