Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Foscam C1 Indoor HD Camera 2.52.2.37 (Network Camera Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Web Management Interface. The manipulation as part of a HTTP Request leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

An exploitable directory traversal vulnerability exists in the web management interface used by the Foscam C1 Indoor HD Camera running application firmware 2.52.2.37. A specially crafted HTTP request can cause the application to read a file from disk but a failure to adequately filter characters results in allowing an attacker to specify a file outside of a directory. An attacker can simply send an HTTP request to the device to trigger this vulnerability.

The bug was discovered 06/19/2017. The weakness was shared 06/21/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com.
