A vulnerability was found in Foscam C1 Indoor HD Camera 2.52.2.37 (Network Camera Software). It has been rated as critical. In the web management interface in Foscam C1 Indoor HD cameras with application firmware 2.52.2.37, a specially crafted HTTP request can allow for a user to inject arbitrary shell characters during manual network configuration resulting in command injection. An attacker can simply send an HTTP request to the device to trigger this vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 06/19/2017. The weakness was presented 06/29/2017 by Cisco with Cisco Talos (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at talosintelligence.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-2848 since 12/01/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1202 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
