A vulnerability was found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.8.5 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code of the component QuickTime Movie Handler. QuickTime in Apple Mac OS X before 10.8.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted idsc atom in a QuickTime movie file.
The weakness was released 09/12/2013 by Jason Kratzer with iDefense Labs VCP as Security Update 2013-004 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with Apple. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-1032 since 01/10/2013. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
