Affected is the function ReadJPEGImage of the file coders/jpeg.c of the component Pixel Cache. The manipulation as part of a JPEG Image leads to a resource management vulnerability. The ReadJPEGImage function in coders/jpeg.c in GraphicsMagick 1.3.26 creates a pixel cache before a successful read of a scanline, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (resource consumption) via crafted JPEG files.
The bug was discovered 07/08/2017. The weakness was presented 07/10/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at hg.code.sf.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-11140 since 07/09/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
