A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Apple iOS up to 6.1.4 (Smartphone Operating System). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component WebKit. WebKit, as used in Apple iTunes before 11.0.3, allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via vectors related to iTunes Store browsing, a different vulnerability than other WebKit CVEs listed in APPLE-SA-2013-05-16-1.

Multiple memory corruption issues existed in WebKit. These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-0997 since 01/10/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 05/25/2021). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 70257 (Apple TV < 6.0 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Misc.. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 121455 (Apple Safari 5.1.10 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2013-06-04-2)).
