When ImageMagick 7.0.6-1 processes a crafted file in convert, it can lead to a Floating Point Exception (FPE) in the WritePALMImage() function in coders/palm.c, related to an incorrect bits-per-pixel calculation.

The bug was discovered 07/16/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/23/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-11537 since 07/22/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
