A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird 23.0 (Web Browser). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component NativeKey Widget. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The NativeKey widget in Mozilla Firefox before 24.0, Thunderbird before 24.0, and SeaMonkey before 2.21 processes key messages after destruction by a dispatched event listener, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) by leveraging incorrect event usage after widget-memory reallocation.

In general this flaw cannot be exploited through email in the Thunderbird product because scripting is disabled, but is potentially a risk in browser or browser-like contexts.
This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1723 since 02/13/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
