A vulnerability was found in Artifex Ghostscript 9.21 (Document Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function igc_reloc_struct_ptr of the file psi/ztoken.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. psi/ztoken.c in Artifex Ghostscript 9.21 mishandles references to the scanner state structure, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted PostScript document, related to an out-of-bounds read in the igc_reloc_struct_ptr function in psi/igc.c.
The bug was discovered 07/25/2017. The weakness was released 07/28/2017 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.ghostscript.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-11714 since 07/27/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
