A vulnerability was found in MetInfo up to 5.3.17 (Content Management System). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file job/uploadfile_save.php of the component PHTML File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. job/uploadfile_save.php in MetInfo through 5.3.17 blocks the .php extension but not related extensions, which might allow remote authenticated admins to execute arbitrary PHP code by uploading a .phtml file after certain actions involving admin/system/safe.php and job/cv.php.
The bug was discovered 07/26/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/28/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at lncken.cn. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-11715 since 07/27/2017. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:job/uploadfile_save.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
