A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 2.4.28/2.6.9 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function __scm_send of the component IGMP Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1137 since 12/06/2004. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. The exploit is available at isec.pl. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 17183 (RHEL 4 : kernel (RHSA-2005:092)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Red Hat Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 115055 (Linux Kernel Multiple Vulnerabilities (RHSA-2005:092-14)).
