A vulnerability was discovered in Siemens SIMATIC Logon (All versions before V1.6) that could allow specially crafted packets sent to the SIMATIC Logon Remote Access service on port 16389/tcp to cause a Denial-of-Service condition. The service restarts automatically.
The bug was discovered 07/11/2017. The weakness was disclosed 08/08/2017 with Tenable Network Security (Website). The advisory is shared for download at siemens.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-9938 since 06/26/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
