A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick up to 7.0.6-10 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function IdentifyImage of the file MagickCore/identify.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Null Pointer Dereference in the IdentifyImage function in MagickCore/identify.c in ImageMagick through 7.0.6-10 allows an attacker to perform denial of service by sending a crafted image file.
The bug was discovered 08/29/2017. The weakness was presented 08/30/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-13768 since 08/30/2017.
