A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Advantech WebAccess up to 8.2 (SCADA Software). This affects some unknown processing. An Uncontrolled Search Path Element issue was discovered in Advantech WebAccess versions prior to V8.2_20170817. A maliciously crafted dll file placed earlier in the search path may allow an attacker to execute code within the context of the application.
The bug was discovered 08/29/2017. The weakness was presented 08/30/2017 with Tenable Network Security (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-12717 since 08/09/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a authentication.
