In Apache Brooklyn before 0.10.0, the REST server is vulnerable to cross-site scripting where one authenticated user can cause scripts to run in the browser of another user authorized to access the first user's resources. This is due to improper escaping of server-side content. There is known to be a proof-of-concept exploit using this vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 02/15/2017. The weakness was released 09/13/2017 by Toshitsugu Yoneyama with Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions, Inc. (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apache.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-3165 since 12/05/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
