A vulnerability was found in Poppler 0.59.0 (Document Reader Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function isImageInterpolationRequired of the file Splash.cc of the component PDF Document Handler. In Poppler 0.59.0, a floating point exception exists in the isImageInterpolationRequired() function in Splash.cc via a crafted PDF document.
The bug was discovered 09/13/2017. The weakness was presented 09/17/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.freedesktop.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-14518 since 09/17/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
