A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg up to 2.0 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function decode_frame of the file libavcodec/vmnc.c of the component Cursor Handler. The impact remains unknown.

The weakness was disclosed 10/09/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as vmnc: Check the cursor dimensions as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at git.videolan.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.libav.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
