CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Helpdesk Pro Plugin up to 1.3.x on Joomla (Joomla Component). It has been classified as problematic. This affects an unknown functionality of the file ticket.download_attachment. The manipulation of the argument filename with the input value .. leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Directory traversal vulnerability in the Helpdesk Pro plugin before 1.4.0 for Joomla! allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the filename parameter in a ticket.download_attachment task.

The bug was discovered 07/21/2015. The weakness was presented 09/20/2017 by Gregor Mynarsky, Kristian Varnai and Simon Rawet as EDB-ID 37666 as not defined exploit (Exploit-DB). It is possible to read the advisory at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2015-4074 since 05/22/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by Simon Rawet and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 792 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.

Upgrading to version 1.4.0 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Exploit-DB (37666) and SecurityFocus (BID 75971†). See VDB-105498, VDB-106861, VDB-106862 and VDB-106864 for similar entries. Be aware that VulDB is the high quality source for vulnerability data.
