Before version 4.8.2, WordPress was vulnerable to a directory traversal attack during unzip operations in the ZipArchive and PclZip components.

The bug was discovered 09/19/2017. The weakness was published 09/23/2017 by Security Team (Alex) with WordPress Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-14719 since 09/23/2017. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
