A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Sound eXchange 14.4.2. Affected by this issue is the function sox_append_comment of the file formats.c. The manipulation as part of a Audio File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. There is a reachable assertion abort in the function sox_append_comment() in formats.c in Sound eXchange (SoX) 14.4.2. A Crafted input will lead to a denial of service attack during conversion of an audio file.
The bug was discovered 10/13/2017. The weakness was released 10/16/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com.
