Multiple memory leaks in t1_lib.c in OpenSSL before 1.0.1u, 1.0.2 before 1.0.2i, and 1.1.0 before 1.1.0a allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via large OCSP Status Request extensions.
The bug was discovered 09/22/2016. The weakness was presented 10/19/2017 by Shi Lei with Qihoo 360 as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - October 2017 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at oracle.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-6304 since 07/26/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
