CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in F5 BIG-IP up to 11.5.4/11.6.1/12.1.1 (Firewall Software). Affected is an unknown functionality of the component HTTP Proxy/SOCKS. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, GTM, Link Controller, PEM and Websafe software version 12.0.0 to 12.1.1, 11.6.0 to 11.6.1, 11.5.0 - 11.5.4, virtual servers with a configuration using the HTTP Explicit Proxy functionality and/or SOCKS profile are vulnerable to an unauthenticated, remote attack that allows modification of BIG-IP system configuration, extraction of sensitive system files, and/or possible remote command execution on the BIG-IP system.

The bug was discovered 10/26/2017. The weakness was disclosed 10/27/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.f5.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-6157 since 02/21/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 104187 (F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP virtual server with HTTP Explicit Proxy and/or SOCKS vulnerability (K02692210)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family F5 Networks Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370629 (F5 BIG-IP HTTP Explicit and SOCKS Proxy Vulnerability (K02692210)).

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (104187) and SecurityFocus (BID 101634†). The entries VDB-108736, VDB-108735, VDB-108734 and VDB-108733 are pretty similar. Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
